Legal
Terms of Use
Last updated 2026-11-04. These terms cover the Nikkosynth software and this website.
1. The licence you are granted
A Nikkosynth licence grants the named licensee the non-exclusive right to install and use the software on the number of computers the licence type permits, and to use it to create, perform and commercially exploit music without further payment or credit.
A personal licence is for one person, on any number of computers that person owns or uses. A company licence is sold per seat: one seat for each person who uses the instrument.
2. What the licence does not grant
- Redistributing the software, or selling or transferring a licence separately from the software.
- Reverse engineering it for the purpose of creating a competing product.
- Removing or altering the copyright notices.
- Redistributing the factory patch bank as a patch library.
3. What you make is yours
Everything you create with Nikkosynth — patches, recordings, performances — belongs to you. Saved patches are your work, they stay on your computer, and nothing is uploaded anywhere. The licence claims no interest in them.
4. Trial and registration
The software works completely before a licence is installed, with no time limit. A licence removes the reminder. Keys are checked entirely offline.
5. Updates and versions
A licence covers the version purchased and, unless stated otherwise at the time of purchase, every later 0.x release. A future major version may be a paid upgrade, and will be announced as such before it ships.
6. Refunds and revocation
Refunds are available within 30 days of purchase. A refunded key is revoked: builds released after the revocation refuse it, because the block list is compiled into the application rather than fetched.
7. Warranty and liability
The software is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to the warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. In no event shall the authors or copyright holders be liable for any claim, damages or other liability, whether in an action of contract, tort or otherwise, arising from, out of or in connection with the software or the use or other dealings in the software.
In plain terms: it is a musical instrument, it is sold to make music with, and no instrument can be guaranteed against every system configuration. If it does not work on your machine, write to us and it will be investigated.
8. This website and the manual
The manual may be copied and distributed in its complete, unmodified form alongside the software. It may not be sold separately, nor modified and redistributed without written permission.
